After
being with your mate for a while it may become easy to overlook the
positive things he does or even take them for granted. As wives we can
make an effort to not take our husbands for granted but to receive the
things he does with gratitude. Receiving with gratitude is always better
than taking for granted. Many times a wife may think, I sure am glad he
did XYZ or I really like it when he does ABC. That’s all well and good,
however, a praise never spoken is simply a thought in your mind. We
have all been there before.
Receiving with gratitude is always better than taking for granted.
Try these five phrases with your mate and see the results.
- I appreciate you: It’s a good feeling to know that you’re appreciated. Letting your spouse know that you appreciate what they do, appreciate their patience, or appreciate their words of encouragement, says to your mate, “I see and acknowledge you.”
- You’re a good dad (You will be a great dad): Fatherhood is not for the faint at heart. When done right it takes much time, energy, and effort. Being a dad is a position of honor. Good fathers strive to do their best for their children. Becoming a dad does not come with an instruction manual. So, when you have a husband who is making every effort to be the best dad he can be, let him know how much that means to you and the children. Fathers can get a bad rap in the news and even within our own communities. If your man is a good dad, let him know it.
- need you/We’re good together: Part of the reason you got married in the first place was probably because you felt like you needed each other. You didn’t want to be apart for too long. You enjoyed things more when you did them together. You make each other laugh. You smile when you see him coming. He needs to know that. Let him know that you need him in your life.
- I love you: When you say these three words, allow them to be filled with all the beauty and vitality they carried when you first got married. Saying, “I love you” can become routine if you let it – just something you call out before leaving for work. Let your actions and words line up projecting, “I Love You” with all of me. Like all of the short phrases listed here, these three words are powerful.
- Thank you: Two simple words often left unspoken because we begin to take each other for granted. It only takes a moment to say thank you. “He knows I appreciate him” is never a reason to not say thank you. Remember to say thank you and say it often.
The five phrases here are simple and to the point, but they are powerful. When expressed with a genuine desire to let your man know how you feel about him. They should be well received, bringing you closer together
