One of the most important factor that could help a young marriage succeed is sincerity of purpose - truth.

Life is full of many decisions and marriage is one of the biggest and most important decisions in individual’s life. On the other hand, it is not an easy path to tread; it can come with so many complications, risks and challenges too, and then you are also caught between your parents’ values, traditions and beliefs which have guided you from childhood into adulthood.

When it was time for you to take those bold steps into marriage, they were also the key people in your lives who influenced your choice of partner.

You are sometimes caught between your loyalty to your parents and your affection for the one you believe you love and want to spend the rest of your life with.

Parental influence
The impacts and influence some parents still have on their married children give them the privilege to pronounce the disapproval of their relationships with or without any form of justification.

There are so many reasons why many young marriages fail today and one can be attributed to parents’ disapproval from inception. The decision to go ahead with the marriage and ignore the warnings of an aggrieved set of parents can be detrimental to the marriage especially if such parents have very good reasons to discourage the relationship. Your parents’ approval to marry the love of your life is a great way to start a blissful marital journeyWhen your parents refuse to support your marriage, it can be very distressing and confusing for you and your spouse; it could break down your marriage in the end if not properly managed.

Your obligation is key
If you decide to go ahead and marry your spouse despite your parents’ disapproval, you will be taking a huge risk but nevertheless, you have an obligation to marry whom your heart truly desires. You must strongly affirm your love for your spouse by taking responsibilities for the choice you have made and therefore ready to face whatever consequence head on.

The truth is your marriage can certainly supply love, affection and emotional support if you both focus on the possibilities rather than fears despite your parents’ disapproval. But's not always easy.
