Daily Reflection
After Elijah has prophesied to the people of Israel that rain will stop if they continued worshiping Baal,the rain actually stopped but the people of Isreal where still unfaithful and continued worshiping Baal instead of God. But God was going to humiliate Baal before all the people in order to take its glory. Elijah was God's instrument in achieving this mission. He called all the people up to the mount of Camel to watch a battle between Baal and God. He wanted them to know who is really God. Anyone who answers by fire would be the Lord. It turned out to be an agreement among all the people. They needed to settle this matter once and for all. That day was a day of decision. There were all the prophets of Baal on one side and Elijah on the other side.Elijah said to prophets of Baal, here are two Bullocks you take one,i will take the other and you offer upon the altar, and the God that answers by Fire, he will be God( 1kings18:22-24). The prophets of Baal built their altar and sacrificed their bullock and then prayed to Baal, O Baal,send the fire,send the fire. But there was no response and Elijah begin to
make caricature of them and told them to shout louder that Baal might be sleeping,deep in thought or even on his way back from travel.Soon it became clear to everybody that Baal won't answer. it was the turn of Elijah to call upon his God. He took twelve stones,representing Isreal,sacrificed the Bullock, poured water upon it, dug a trench,then knelt down and prayed, O God of our fathers, O God of hope and our life an our forever salvation, O God let me know that thou art the Lord! Send the fire.send the fire and fire came down and burnt the bullock,the stones of the altar, the woods and the dust which the Altar lay. When the Isrealites saw what happened, they declared Yaweeh that he is God! He is the Lord! Elijah killed all the prophets of Baal and that was the end of Baal for that generation. Is there anyting dragging supremacy with God In your heart? Today Is a day of decision.You need to make up your mind on who you will follow and what you need. A divided life Is not worth living.Get serious with God. Make your decision today.
