As Pastor Eunice Olawale, the female
preacher of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was laid to rest at
the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja, the presidency has pledged to find and
punish accordingly the killers of the mother-of-seven.
Speaking on behalf of President Muhamadu
Buhari at the burial service, Babachir David Lawal, the secretary to
the government of the federation, promised:
“As a government, we want to inform
you that all the perpetrators of this act will not go free and will be
brought to book. All Nigerians should be safe and free to practice their
religion anywhere.
Government’s resolve is to fish out
the perpetrators. We pray to God not only to forgive them, but pray
that the perpetrators seek for repentance. On behalf of the President
and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, may God console you.”
Recall that the 42-year-old was was
killed with a machete while preaching in the Gbazango-West area of
Kubwa by suspected Muslim fanatics on Saturday, July 9, in Abuja.
She was called a martyr.
