Two top chieftains of the ruling All
Progressives Congress (APC) allegedly engaged in a free for all fight at
the residence of the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the
weekend.
Vanguard reports that those involved in
the scuffle were Alhaji Abdurrahman Abba, the chief of staff to
Government House, Yola and Alhaji Salihu Ahmed, the chairman of the Yola
north local government chapter of the party in Adamawa state.
Sources disclosed that a group of party
loyalists had gathered at the residence of Atiku to hold discussions on
issues of common interest.
While the meeting was going on, an argument ensued between Abba and Ahmed.
Both men turned the house of Atiku into a
boxing ring for about five minutes before security operatives
intervened to restore peace.
According to the source, if security
operatives had not intervened on time, it would have degenerated into a
full blown fight as the duo were already getting set for a showdown.
Not long after the scuffle, the APC
chairman went on air in local radio station to announce the suspension
of Abba from the Yola north chapter of the party. He said the suspension
became necessary because of Abba’s highhandedness and abused of party’s
Constitution.
At the weekend, Mallam Abdullahi Kabiru,
a chieftain of the APC in Kogi stateaccused Atiku Abubakar of causing
disarray in the leadership hierarchy of Kogi APC.
He alleged that Atiku was making moves
to impose his loyalist, Simeon Achuba to take the position of the deputy
governor in the state.
