jose mourinho press conference
Manchester united manager Jose Mourinho made his first news conference an man u manager and these are the things he had to say:
"I know my legacy. I now my expectation. I know the history of this club and what the fans expect from me. I think it comes in the right moment of my career. I feel well prepared and very stable. I have great motivation and I can say I am where I want to be; at this club, in the Premier League and this country"
MOURINHO ON CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
"I cannot hide my disappointment that we are not in the Champions League. Hopefully it is only season we are not there. But obviously the club is more important than myself and Manchester United is a Champions League club. In July 2017 we have to make sure we are there."
MOURINHO ON HIS AIMS
"It depends on the way you want to face it. I was never good at hiding behind words or philosophies. I was always more aggressive in my approach, with the risks it can bring. To say let's work, let's try to be back in the top-four, let's try to do well in the Europa League - I am not good at that. To be more aggressive is to say we want to win."
MOURINHO ON STYLE OF PLAY
"You cannot win a competition without playing well. What is to play well? It is scoring more goals than your opponent. I want to score goals, I don't want to concede goals, I want the fans behind us because in the last 10 minutes we are defending a result."

MOURINHO ON WHAT HE HAS TO PROVE
"There are some managers who last won a title 10 years ago. Some of them have won none of them. For me it was one year ago. If I have a lot to prove, imagine the others. I have to prove to myself. That's my nature. I would never be able to work without success."

MOURINHO ON NEED FOR CHANGE
"I could approach this job in a defensive way and say 'the best we did was fourth, the best we did was the FA Cup'. I have worked in some big clubs before, and the reality is that when people, year after year, have the same kind of Man Utd - it has to change for the better. Success was just routine but I want to forget the last three years. I don't want the players to think we have to do better. To do better is to finish fourth."
MOURINHO ON HIS LAST SEASON AT CHELSEA
"I am 53 - not 63 or 73 - I am a young manager. The reality is that I was in trouble for the last five months. The first month was okay, the second month was not, and after that it was a disaster."

MOURINHO ON TRANSFERS
"Is the third player official yet? No. It will be a official soon. We made a nucleus of four positions as priority to give a certain balance to the squad, and a push in terms of quality that I want. As you know, especially the ones with more vision, I am a manager that likes specialists, not multi-functional players. I am clear with my approach and model of player. I like one or two multi-functional players. You always need someone that can give you a hand."
MOURINHO ON TARGETS
"From these targets we have three, until we have the fourth we are working hard on that, with Mr Woodward and the owners. When we have them we will breathe, we will be stable, and the market will still be open."
MOURINHO ON PLAYING YOUNGSTERS...
"Do you know how many players I have brought through from the academy? 49. And I did so with two important factors. Sometimes you promote because you don't have another choice. You have lots of injuries so you have to bring them through. The second factor is that when you are not playing for big targets, it's easier to bring them through. My injury record is very low, so I never promote because of a need. I did it because of conviction and decision. Last year was the only season of my career I was not fighting for the title. Every other year I was fighting for it until the last moment."

MOURINHO ON YOUNGSTERS
"Some of these players are big names. Some of them are Champions League winners. Some of them are at the Euros. Sometimes lies that are repeated many times, people believe it is true, but it is still a lie. I can give you the names, so you know I am speaking right."
MOURINHO ON GIGGS DEPARTURE
" I never run away from my responsibility but I can say it's not my responsibility that Ryan Giggs is not in the club. The job that Ryan wanted to have was the one they have given to me. It's not my fault. He wanted to be manager of Manchester United. The reasons the owners, the board, can tell you is that they decide the job was for me. Ryan wants to be a manager, like 16 years when I decided myself. Ryan has made his decision. He could be what he wanted in the club, they wanted to give him any important job, but he made a decision."
MOURINHO ON GIGGS
"I had two years contract left at Barcelona. Do you think it was easy for me to leave that stability and take up a new fight? It's not easy. Ryan has been honest and good luck. And if he wants to come back one day when I am here I will never stop him and I will say yes if the club asks my opinion. And if he comes back as a manager it will be something natural and a consequence of his success as a manager."

MOURINHO ON FERGIE'S ADVICE
"Yes he said bring the umbrella. And he said bring my typical bottle of wine because he said there will be many occasions now for us to be together. When his holidays are finished I will be based in Manchester, he is the same, and we will have lots of time to meet each other. He will always be welcome at the training ground and we can share friends, family, life and his opinion is an important opinion for me."
MOURINHO ON ROONEY'S POSITION
"In football there are many jobs on the field. The one that is more difficult to find is the one who puts the ball in the net. Players change their characteristics with age, so it's normal that they change a little bit. But the natural appetite to put the ball in the net never changes. Maybe he is not a No.9 anymore but he will never, with me, be a No.6. He will never be 50 metres from the goal. For me he will be a No.9 or a No.10 or a No.9.5, but with me he will never be a No.6 or even a No.8."
