Nigerians lost their lives in Ogun State after the police reportedly refused to save them.
A woman and several others were badly burnt in a gas explosion in Adidge area of state capital, Abeokuta, on Thursday with police officers at the scene refusing to make effort to save those lives, a witness said.
“The lady in this video (scroll down to watch) was just by the other side of the road when a gas tank exploded and I was just some three meters away and the motorbike I boarded still got burnt,” Taofeek Balinga who witnessed the incident said.
“To the firefighters and police officers that were there, I say God will attend to you too as you didn’t attend to this girl in pains. As you can see that the girl was walking towards the police officers for help and they kept saying it’s not their job even when the fire fighters came late.
“When the firefighters even came, they said there was no water in their tank.
“I questioned one of them and he said ‘am I Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun State Governor)?’.
“All what police officers around Adigbe area know is to oppress young boys dressing smart but can’t rescue a burning human being.

“I won’t forgive them for their actions against humanity. He was even threatening to arrest me if I bother him.
“May the good God judge them,” Balinga said.
The police also, according to Balinga, refused to take the woman to hospital in their van.
The woman, Balinga said, later died in hospital. Two other people had died not long after the explosion. One of them was seven years old, reports say.
One of the victims was seen boarding a commercial motorcycle to hospital as police refused to help.
Six others were injured and taken to hospital, state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said.
The gas explosion happened around 11am on Thursday near a filling station. Two petrol station attendants were affected.
