Rivers state has recorded a case of Dengue fever from a woman on admission at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, (UPTH).
The latest development is said to be raising serious concern among medical personnel in state. Dr Nnana Onyekwere, the director of public of health in ministry of Health made this disclosure to journalists in Port Harcourt.
He warned that the Dengue fever is in the league of hemorrhagic fever like Ebola and Lassa fever but at a milder level. “The fever is similar to other hemorrhagic fevers like, Lassa and Ebola but at a milder level.


There are symptoms of bleeding from some organs of the body that is affected. The woman has been put under a mosquito net to prevent the spread. There some species of mosquito that transmit the disease, not all types. “However precautions have taken to prevent the spread,” he stated.
