Bishop
David Oyedepo, has come under fire from a section of Nigerians for
making a declaration that Nigeria is moving forward despite the
challenges facing the country.
The founder of the Living Faith Church
(LFC), reportedly made the declaration in a telecast to the local and
international assembly of the church workers recently.
The bishop also said the emergence of
private tertiary institutions, championed by the church, has helped to
right moral codes in the country’s educational system as well as help to
eradicate cultism and activism.
But it appears the comments of Oyedepo
who was close to the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, has attracted
the ire of some Nigerians who have accused him of making empty promises
not backed by the bible.
Others attacked the bishop for running a private university that many of his church members cannot afford to send their kids to.
This is not the first time Bishop
Oyedepo would be coming under fire over comments, recall that in the
weeks leading to the 2015 general election there were allegations that
the prominent cleric threatened to open the gate of hell on those
opposing the former president Goodluck Jonathan.
The bishop however dismissed the
allegations, saying his statement was never directed towards those
opposing the Jonathan but those against Nigeria.
What do you think, has Bishop Oyedepo bitten more than he can chew?
